Recorded and written on May 1st, 2024 for a radio thing. My friend Lucy Soares from Garden Patrol
was doing a radio program and wanted songs about Seinfeld, so I showed her "Becoming George"
by Gavin Caine (check him out by the way, he's incredible) and she wanted a third song, so I
wrote her one! It's about Jason Alexander, the real guy, falling in love with the character
of Susan, it's cheaply and quickly done, but it's a nice song. it got on the radio at least!
Written around autumn 2023 into January 2024, recorded around that February? Been a minute.
I was really into the Legendary Pink Dots and their way of lyrics, so this was my attempt
at making my own song by them, it's supposed to be about young wooden soldiers cannibalizing
each other on a tour of south central Africa, I'm kind of proud of it still, but not very...
I really like it still though, I'll probably play it live once I get a band together.
Ended up releasing it to use the ounce of traction my first track got and drop a second.
Written in late autumn 2024, recorded February 2025. I got rejected and he made me rethink
my entire life really, this song is me cutting me down and telling myself that I can't
change all the stuff I've done, I just need to go forward and do good to replace
the bad I'd done. At this point I was also really getting into Prefab Sprout,
especially the first two singles, so this song was kind of my attempt at one
like that. I'm still proud of it: I'm proud of most everything I've done really.
Written in April 2025, recorded on May 28th, 2025. A friend had died and I
was greaving about the fact we hadn't talked in such a long time, nor
had I thought about him very much. This song was originally supposed to be
part of an album, but I nixed that project eventually. This turns out
to be what I put out from it, an acoustic thing to get the song out there at all.
Written between June and August 2025, recorded between August and October 2025.
I decided to put my old project in the trash and just write and see what happened.
I ended up writing 14 songs, many of them being about death. My uncle was in hospice
and a friend of mine had died (not the one from Flowers!) and I was grieving.
Ultimately I cut down the whole project to 10 songs, including one I had written
back in summer 2023 (wow!) and it will be released on January 5th.
